Medical brigade to Guingajapa, San Nicolás

On February 18th Superemos provided support to a medical brigade to the rural community of Guingajapa about a 20 minute drive past San Nicolas. The local health authority of MINSA in Estelí again organized a team of specialists from the Regional St. John of God Hospital as well as general medical practitioners from the San Nicolas health center. This area is not accessible for the local health authority’s mobile clinic however the brigade did again offer dental and gynecological care, support for lab tests as well as ultrasound exams and a portable x-ray unit. Students from the local campus of Nicaragua’s National Autonomous University received a total of over 200 patients. The brigade served around 95 women, 50 men, 30 girls and 25 boys. Superemos psychologist Karen Villarreyna and legal workers Maria Felix Castillo accompanied the brigade, seeing seven patients who were concerned about their domestic situation.
