Allan Parrales is our talented painter extraordinaire. We have conducted educational activities with our students, but this has not been a major component of this project.
Fintan Kilbride was a Catholic priest and educator who supported our education and health care programs since our inception in 1999. He was born in Ireland, worked in Nigeria, and later settled in Canada, where he fundraised for and supported our organization until his death in 2006.
Dr. Peter Loewinthan and the late Dr. Lorraine Stansfield (dec. 2017), both long standing friends and supporters of Superemos and our health care programs. Our friendship with Dr. Peter has brought us an enormous number of relationships and opportunities from his network over the years.
This mural, created in 2017 as part of the Actuality Media documentary, reflects the meeting of two friends, a student and an alumna of the Estelí Women’s School.

Ito Yukiyoshi of the Japanese Association for the Aid of Nicaragua has been instrumental in the development of our solar panel project formed in 2009, which continues to provide workshops about the elaboration, installation and maintenance of solar panels to locals, participants in our vocational skills program, and students from the Environmental Science department the local university.
Dr. Kirsten Meisinger, who has attended our annual medical brigades since 2010, with her husband and children on a background of a typical Nicaraguan rural community. The painting also reflects the solar panel and ecological toilet projects of the Christine King Cooperative.

Cele (dec. 2019) and Axel Meyer of Illinois have supported Superemos since its inception and were particularly instrumental in our recovery from Hurricane Mitch in 1999 with their fundraising support through the De Kalb Inter Faith Network. Judy Richardson of Oklahoma and her work with the Global Education Fund helped us develop our teacher training program, which trained hundreds of primary school teachers in participatory learning from 2005 until 2017. Hope Little of Chicago has supported our community and health programs since our inception.
