ICES team visit rural elderly
The Superemos program, Intervention, Change, Education and Service (ICES) works primarily to develop ways of addressing and preventing domestic violence. But part of the team’s work also involves monitoring for cases of special hardship and need in the rural communities the program serves. Psychologist Karen Villarreyna and legal worker Maria Felix Castillo took advantage of their visit to the community of Guingajapa to seek out an elderly couple further way from the community to assess their situation and needs. They were accompanied by students from the social work and medical faculties of the local campus of Nicaragua’s National Autonomous University.
