Medical brigade to Las Cañas, La Trinidad
On February 17th Superemos provided support to another medical brigade organized in coordination with the local health authority of MINSA in Estelí. This visit was to a more accessible rural community in the municipality of La Trinidad called Las Cañas. The brigade consisted of specialists from the Regional St. John of God Hospital as well as general medical practitioners from the health center in La Trinidad. The local health authority also mobilized its mobile clinic which offers dental and gynecological care with support for carrying out basic lab tests as well as ultrasound exams. Students from the local campus of Nicaragua’s National Autonomous University worked receiving patients. The brigade served a total of 101 patients, 47 women, 12 men, 21 girls and 21 boys. Superemos psychologist Karen Villarreyna and legal workers Maria Felix Castillo accompanied the brigade, offering advice and guidance to nine patients who were concerned about their domestic situation.
