Application of fluoride varnish and training with Dr. Michelle Henshaw’s team from Boston University’s School of Dental Medicine

In the month of October we had the visit of a Pediatric Dentistry delegation from the Boston University School of Dental Medicina.

They performed fluoride application in 10 preschools, as part of the preventive dental health program with the direct support of the preschool directors and educators in the urban area of the city of Esteli. A total of 749 children received the applications which are carried out every quarter.

The team from Boston also visited the local “Francisco Luis Espinoza Pineda” National University’s School of Dental Medicine and to discuss an exchange in the area of Pediatric Dentistry. The team agreed with their local counterparts in this university to arrange sharing the university facilities and its dental units for the use of future dental medical brigades from Boston and to hold training activities so as to be able to offer better care for local children in the department of Estelí.
