Medical brigade to El Jícaro, San Nicolás
On March 17th, Superemos worked with the local Health Ministry (MINSA) to send a follow-up medical brigade to the community of El Jícaro near the town of San Nicolás. Although MINSA had already served this community in February, the need for medical care in nearby communities warranted a follow up visit which took place on March 17th. This brigade consisted of specialists in internal medicine, gynecology, orthopedics, pediatrics and psychology as well as general medical practitioners, nurses and laboratory personnel. The brigade saw a total of 172 patients including 42 children. The Superemos team working to prevent domestic violence assisted seven patients. The team was accompanied by three medical students and two social work students from the local campus of Nicaragua's National Autonomous University.
