ICES project activities during the visit of the BIU delegation
The ICES project welcomed the chance to have Dr Luz López, as well as Lyn Styczinski and Len Greenberg in person, sharing a workshop to summarize and consolidate topics shared in two on line seminars the past months. The workshop ended with the presentation to the course participants of the corresponding certificates in which the authorities of the Regional University Center (formerly the FAREM) and the ICES team took part. 70 students and teachers of Social Work, Psychology and Nursing participated.
As part of the teamwork engaged in this year’s medical brigade, ICES actively participated in the medical brigades in order to provide psychosocial care to 73 patients identified by the visiting doctors as well as those referred by local health personnel.
There was also a Diploma course: “Child protection with emphasis on prevention and response to sexual abuse and teenage pregnancy”. Facilitated by pschologist Liliana Calle, as well as students David Andrade and Dayomi, from the Master Degree course of Social Work at Boston University, the delegation taught a class on: Trauma and Cognitive Behavior Therapy to students of the diploma “Child protection with emphasis on prevention and response to sexual abuse and adolescent pregnancy”, 65 people participated consisiting of professionals in Social Work, Psychology, Law and Education as well as members of the National Police, nurses and students of Anthropology and other humanities studies.
