Dot House Health Medical Brigade in Estelí, bringing health to every community

This year the medical brigade from Dot House Heath visited 10 communities of the municipality of Estelí, attending to a total of 1990 people (including 700 children) detecting that 40% had problems of parasites, allergies and neurological problems and deficit of psychomotor development

During the visits this year, 15% of cases of domestic violence and psycho-emotional problems were detected, which were treated immediately by the psychologists /therapists and social workers who accompanied the medical brigade on every visit, it should be noted that even after the brigade, Superemos works with the local health system to ensure any necessary follow up until that every patient needing further care gets th eattention they require.

Patients waiting to be seen were able to participate in talks, games and dynamics while waiting for their consultations, thanks to the support of the friends of the Boston University School of Social Work and the team of our ICES project.

Care provided to adult patients included the appropriate laboratory tests, attention from providers of internal medicine, general medicine and gynecology, with ultrasound for pregnant women and prostate ultrasound (an impressive fact that 92 prostate exams were performed this year during the medical brigade, which helps prevent cancer and serious problems in men)

Also this year we were able to offer better dental care to children, pregnant women and adults who needed it. A total of 250 patients were treated, 65% of whom were children.
