Exchange visit from Bonanza on addressing domestic violence
On May 9th and 10th, Superemos hosted the visit of a group of nine people from Bonanza to exchange experiences on the issue of domestic violence. The group from Bonanza included personnel from the health ministry, from the public defense authority and social workers from the Bonanza Municipal authority. On May 9th, the group accompanied our ICES team led by Karen Villarreyna on a visit to the rural health center in Puertas Azules about 90 minutes drive from the city of Estelí. There, the team from Bonanza accompanied the work of the ICES team paying special attention to the aspect of inter-institutional coordination and listneing to the comments of the local health ministry staff and visiting patients at the health center.
On May 10th we held two workshops. In one workshop, the ICES team discussed in detail the methodology of their work and exchanged experiences with the team from Bonanza. In the other workshop, journalist Lesther Rodriguez from Bonanza discussed ways of making the best use of social media for the community programs of the “Christine King” Multi Service Cooperative.
We are very graetful to the Municpal Authority of Bonanza for facillitating this visit and to our Municpal Auhtority in Estelí for covering the cost of accommodation for the group from Bonanza during their stay in Estelí.
