Project against domestic violence, giving a talk to women in the Materna-Esteli home.
As part of the vision of the ICES Project, which works to address the problem of domestic violence, program workers Karen Villarreyna amd Maria Felix work sensitizing future mothers from rural communities staying at the local Casa Materna maternal shelter for the last weeks of their pregnancy.
The Casa Materna is a shelter organized, coordinated and watched over by the Ministry of Health, offering follow up and security to mothers from distant rural areas before having their babies during the remaining days of their delivery.
In coordination with MINSA, the ICES team offers them psycho-social care, talks on self-esteem, preventive health, proper nutrition for mother and baby and also topics related to recognizing if they are victims of violence and how to address them, available legal protection and much more.
On this occasion there were about 20 pregnant women from the ages of 13 to 35 years and from different municipalities and communities in the north of Esteli.
